BRICS Education Ministers to Meet in Moscow

The third meeting of BRICS education ministers will take place on 18 November in Moscow and will be chaired by Russian Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov.

The Moscow Cooperation Declaration and the Memorandum of Understanding on the Creation of BRICS Network University are due to be signed at the meeting.

The declaration is expected to outline the main areas of cooperation between the BRICS member countries, and to facilitate the internationalisation of higher education, the promotion of academic mobility, the development of vocational education, the quality of education programmes and the provision of educational opportunities for all.

Ministers will discuss the draft Memorandum of Understanding on the Creation of BRICS Network University. They will determine the university's operation mechanisms and structure, as well as higher educational establishments that will participate in the project at the initial stage and training programmes for students. Special attention will be paid to the recognition of education certificates in BRICS countries.

In addition, participants will address proposals to stimulate information exchanges, as well as short-term summer network student schools and incentives for postgraduates and young scientists.
