Young Scientists Studying Cooperation Under BRICS Receive Awards in Sevastopol
Friday, October 2, 2015

Prizes were awarded to the winners in the contest for the best work on the subject “BRICS Multilateral Cooperation” in the framework of the First International Young Scientists Forum The Science of  the Future is the Science of the Young held with support from the RF Ministry of Education.

Lyudmila Ogorodova, Deputy RF Minister of Education and Science, said, welcoming the participants at the prize awarding ceremony, that international contests of young scientists are aimed at bringing  together both prominent scientists and young researchers seeking new knowledge to address common issues. “Thus, an environment for exchanging opinions and knowledge related to scientific discoveries is being formed. That is how the future of science is shaped,” stressed the deputy minister.

According to Ms. Ogorodova, today a broad range of instruments are put into practice to develop and strengthen international collaboration in science, however, without a clear understanding of what scientists are actually working on and what their priority fields of research are, it is impossible to build relations of effective interaction. That is why such practical events, which produce tangible results and are carried out systematically, need to be promoted to achieve real success in this sphere.

The contest, organized by the National Committee on BRICS Research, generated much interest among leading BRICS universities. The jury made up of well-known scientists from the five member-countries considered over 90 works in three nominations: security, economics and humanitarian cooperation.

Subjects related to economics and finance, which are among the priorities of the BRICS agenda, were the most popular among the contestants.
