Russia, with the support of its BRICS partners, is promoting a document in the UN on the use of public-private partnership to combat corruption, said Russian Ambassador at Large for Issues of International Anti-Corruption Cooperation Vladimir Tarabrin at the sixth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption in St Petersburg.

The meeting of the BRICS Senior Officials on Anti-Corruption was held on 1 November. Tarabrin said that unanimous support for the document was one of the main practical results of the meeting.

He said that work on the final text of the document is currently underway. "It is almost ready and we hope to accept it tomorrow. It will determine the strategy of international anti-corruption cooperation in the sphere of partnership of the state and business, which we consider an exceptionally important and largely new area of the multilateral dialogue that is being conducted under the UN aegis," he said.

The aim of the document is to encourage public-private partnership, not only for passive protection of the business community against corruption practices, but also to stimulate business in the struggle against corruption, both at home and abroad, Tarabrin said.
