Friday, September 27, 2024

During January-July 2024, Azerbaijan's trade turnover with BRICS countries amounted to USD 5 billion 837,895 million, according to calculations made by APA-Economics based on the report of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the calculations, the volume of this indicator is 9.2% or USD 490.3 million more than the corresponding period of last year.

During the reporting period, the export from Azerbaijan to the BRICS countries consisted of USD 1 billion 283.071 million, and the import from the BRICS countries consisted of USD 4 billion 554.824 million.

It should be noted that during this period, the trade turnover with the BRICS countries equaled to 21.7% of the total trade turnover of Azerbaijan.

It should be recalled that in 2006, Brazil, Russia, India and China created the BRICS group. After South Africa joined it four years later, the organization became known as BRICS. From this year, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates also became members of the organization. Azerbaijan has officially applied for BRICS membership.
