Decision Reached on Commencing International Road Transport Across Mongolia, China, and Russia

As part of the project to establish the Mongolia-Russia-China Economic Corridor, the Deputy Ministers of Transport of Mongolia, the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and the Russian Federation convened in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the PRC, to discuss the implementation of the “Intergovernmental Agreement on International Road Transport along the Asian Highway Network” signed between the three countries.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Mongolia Batbold Sandagdorj attended the Joint Committee Meeting. At the Meeting, the parties decided to officially start transportation on the AH-4 highway that runs through the territories of Mongolia, China, and Russia. Additionally, the following issues were discussed:

- Promote transportation on the AH-3 highway of the Asian Highway Network.

- Open an irregular route to transport tourists from Dalian, China, through the Zamiin Uud Land Port, Mongolia, to Ulaan-Uud and Ereen, Russia.

- Increase the number of TIR International Certificates.

- Establish a tripartite mechanism of cooperation between the transport institutions of Mongolia, China, and Russia.

At the Joint Committee Meeting, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Mongolia Batbold Sandagdorj met Vice Minister of Transport of the PRC Li Yang and discussed issues facing the transport sectors of Mongolia and the PRC.

The two sides agreed to cooperate closely on certain issues regarding the transport sector.
