China and Russia to Collaborate on Aero-Engine R&D

State-owned enterprises in China and Russia have agreed to collaborate on aero-engine technologies, Chinas State Administration for Science, Technology, and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND) has announced.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed in mid-January by the China Aviation Research Institute (CAI) - a subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) - and Russias Central Institute of Aviation Motors (CIAM), SASTIND said in a press release published on 24 January.

According to SASTIND, the MOU will support a long-term co-operative partnership between the two institutions. It added that the agreement would support potential collaboration in a range of aero-engine activities, including simulation technologies, distributed control systems, engine health management, thermal management, and fluid control.
