The first ever BRICS Labor
and Employment Ministers’
meeting to be held in Ufa
in January

On the sidelines of G20 Labor and Employment Ministers' Meeting in Ankara (Turkish Republic) there was a meeting of the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Maxim A. Topilin and the ILO Director-General Guy Ryder.

The head of the Ministry has personally invited Mr. Ryder to take part in BRICS Labor and Employment Ministers' meeting under the Russian Presidency.

"On 25-26 January 2016, Ufa will host the first ever BRICS Labor and Employment Ministers' meeting, - said Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Maxim Topilin. - It is important that this dialog will be held in a trilateral format - with the participation of social partners: trade unions, employers and governments. Russia will be represented by Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Mikhail Shmakov, Chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia". “Taking into account the priorities of the International Labor Organization, the leading role of the ILO is undeniable at this meeting"- said the head of the Ministry of Labor, noting that the cooperation with the ILO during preparation to January meeting was already on the way.

"The Ufa meeting will focus its attention on three main subjects. They are high-quality and accessible to all employment assuming that professional qualifications correspond to the labor market requirements, job search facilitation and labor mobility, - said the Minister Maxim Topilin. - Also, problems of labor market formalization, transition from informal to formal employment, and information interaction on labor and employment will be discussed at the meeting"

"BRICS Ministerial Declaration on matters of employment and labor will be adopted as a result of the meeting. It will offer specific measures to improve employment, to reinforce social protection and to ensure decent working conditions, which in turn will provide a stable economic growth of BRICS countries" - said the Minister Maxim Topilin.

The Minister also announced the meeting of the Working group. It will be held in Moscow, November 18-19, 2015. Delegates will discuss the preparations for BRICS meeting and the necessary documents.
