China Hosts the 3rd BRICS Young Diplomats Forum

The 3rd BRICS Young Diplomats Forum was successfully held in Beijing and Linyi City, Shandong Province from May 30 to June 3. The Forum, with the theme of "BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future", is one of BRICS meeting and events hosted by China as the Chairmanship. More than 70 participants attended the Forum, including young diplomats from China, Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa and Thailand, as well as representatives from the United Nations Systems in China and the BRICS Business Council.

Ambassador Wang Xiaolong, Special Envoy for BRICS Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China delivered a speech at the Opening Ceremony. In his speech,Wang made brief introduction on BRICS cooperation and China's overall work plan as the 2017 Chairmanship. Wang hoped that young diplomats from the BRICS countries could make a positive contribution for BRICS cooperation in the future.

Mr. Tan Jian, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economics Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China delivered a speech at the Plenary Session of the Round-table Meeting of the Forum. Tan pointed out that China will continue to forge a stronger partnership for promoting world peace, common development, diversity of civilizations and improved global economic governance.

The Forum is rich in content. Variety of activities include Round-table Meeting, High-speed rail experience, visiting Linyi Economic and Technological Development Area, Chinese traditional cultural experience. At this forum, which served as a platform of friendship, the participating young diplomats, guided by the BRICS spirit of openness and inclusiveness, engaged in active interactions and exchange of minds, and jointly drew up the blueprint for the future development of BRICS cooperation.

After 5 days of the Forum, young diplomats expressed their admiration for the achievement of China's reform and opening-up, as well as the colorful Chinese traditional culture. They also expressed their expectation and confidence in the new decade of the BRICS cooperation and wished a complete success of the BRICS Xiamen Summit.
